BOLTON TEEN JAILED FOR MUGGING AND ATTACKING ELDERLY WOMEN
2001: A teenager was convicted of attacking four elderly women just two months after he was released from a four-year prison term for robbing pensioners.Maksood Alam, who is 17 years old and from Marlborough Street in Bolton, appeared before Bolton Crown Court for sentencing.
Judge William Morris used special sentencing powers to impose a four-year prison sentence, which will run consecutively with an existing nine-month sentence from his prior incarceration.
Prosecutor Richard Heap detailed that Alam stole a handbag from a 58-year-old woman on Chorley Old Road.
He also took £30 and personal documents from an 87-year-old woman, and then assaulted an 88-year-old woman, injuring her nose and stealing £70 along with her bag.
Moreover, he mugged a 71-year-old woman as she left the Baptist Church on Eden Street in Astley Bridge.
