ROMANIAN IN COURT OVER RAPE OF TEEN
A man has made a court appearance charged with the sexual assault and rape of teenage girls on a Norfolk beach.Madalin Ilinca, aged 34, was wanted by authorities in relation to an incident at South Beach in Great Yarmouth.
He was detained after re-entering the UK at Dover port.
Police were investigating reports that two girls, believed to be 16, were raped on South Beach Parade in the early morning hours of May 16.
Ilinca, who resides on Stafford Road in Great Yarmouth, was brought to Norwich Magistrates’ Court in custody to face charges including rape, sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
He appeared in court wearing a cream hooded top, holding his hands in front of him, and confirmed his personal details.
At one stage, he appeared tearful and pleaded, “please, I’m the father of four children.” The defendant, characterized by short dark hair and a beard, was not asked to enter pleas.
He was remanded into custody, with no request made for bail.
The prosecution, led by Katherine Newson, stated that the victims, both believed to be aged 16, had been assaulted behind the Premier Inn and on the beach itself.

Katherine Newson, prosecuting, said it was alleged the two girls, believed to be aged 16, had been subjected to sexual assaults behind the Premier Inn and on the beach.
She said: “Police received a call from two females who had been approached near the Premier Inn on the seafront.” She said they had walked with one man while another was said to have followed behind them.
One teenager is alleged to have been sexually assaulted behind the hotel while the second is said to have been raped on the beach.
Ilinca, who was assisted by an interpreter over a video-link, is due to appear before Norwich Crown Court on July 6.
The court was told he had left the UK to fly back to Romania on May 19 but was detained while returning voluntarily.
