LUKE THOMAS FROM PAIGNTON SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR CHILD OFFENCES
A man from Paignton has been sentenced to prison after secretly filming teenagers and sharing explicit messages with other paedophiles. Luke Thomas, 37 years old, used a hidden camera to record his victims and stored the footage securely on his mobile device. He also downloaded applications such as Telegram and TeleGuard to communicate with others who shared his disturbing interests.Thomas admitted to several charges, including voyeurism, possession of indecent images of children, sharing obscene materials, and possessing extreme pornographic content. He was arrested on December 16 following a tip-off from the National Crime Agency about suspicious online activity.
During a search of his phone, authorities discovered organized folders containing videos of child abuse that had been sent to him by others involved in similar crimes. Throughout the investigation, it was clear that Thomas gained sexual pleasure from explicit online conversations and sharing images.
His defense lawyer remarked that Thomas was ashamed and described his actions as 'the single worst thing I’ve ever done.'
At Exeter Crown Court, Judge David Evans sentenced Thomas to three years and two months in prison. The judge highlighted the serious threat he poses to children and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to supervise his future online activity. The court made it explicit that his behaviour, driven by paedophilic tendencies, poses a fundamental danger to minors.
