August 2010 Paedophile’s film of boys ‘misguided’ A convicted paedophile approached and filmed two boys in an attempt to clear his name, Exeter Crown Court has been told. Reginald Palmer, 78, from Compton near Paignton, gave two 11-year-old boys £1 and filmed them walking towards him in a park to prove that his dogs would yap when approached. The court was told that he made the film in a bid to prove his innocence of earlier allegations that he had breached his sex offenders’ prevention order by approaching young people. Judge John Neligan told him: “It was a misguided thing to do, but understandable, I suppose. Just keep clear of youngsters.” Palmer pleaded guilty to breaching the Sex Offenders Prevention Order by making the film. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 costs. David Evans told the court that his client was facing three charges relating to the breach of his order. Not guilty verdicts were formally recorded.
