'CREEPY' DARLINGTON PERVERT WHO THREATENED TO RAPE WOMAN JAILED
A sex offender messaged a woman he had threatened to rape despite being barred from contacting her.
The 25-year-old, Luke Boyce, had developed an obsessive sexual interest in the victim before making a series of vile threats, Teesside Crown Court heard.
The threats were taken seriously, leading to a sexual harm prevention order to address his disturbing online behaviour.
Emma Atkinson, prosecuting, said Boyce was barred from contact but liked messages on her TikTok account.
She initially gave him the benefit of the doubt, but after he bombarded her with messages on Instagram, she contacted police.
In a victim impact statement, the woman said the defendant became obsessed with her and made comments about wanting to rape her.
The incident has left her feeling anxious and frightened.
The court noted Boyce’s previous convictions for sexual assault breaches of his SHPO.
He pleaded guilty to breaching his SHPO twice and possession of cannabis following his arrest on November 11 last year.
Mitigation stated he pleaded guilty early and acknowledged the seriousness, with his counsel conceding he would face a custodial sentence.
Judge Jonathan Carroll sentenced Boyce to 40 months in custody, emphasizing the terrifying nature of his behaviour and the threat to the victim, with a further restraining order and indefinite SHPO coming into effect.
