VIOLENT EX-CON JAILED FOR BATTERING PREGNANT PARTNER WITH 13-MONTH-OLD IN HER ARMS
A man known as Liam Wallace-Clark has been sentenced to prison for assaulting his former partner while she was holding their 13-month-old daughter in her arms. The incident occurred after Wallace-Clark, aged 33, returned to meet his child following his release from prison.
According to court reports, Wallace-Clark repeatedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the face when she attempted to call the police.
During the altercation, he cornered her on a couch and allegedly said, "If you're sending me to jail I might as well kill you." Wallace-Clark, who has a long history of violence with 20 previous convictions for 29 offences, appeared at court via video link from HMP Preston.
The court was told that he had known his former partner since December 2018 and that they had a brief three-week relationship during which she became pregnant.
After Wallace-Clark was sent to prison, they met in Southport town centre, where he initially appeared intimidating before being escorted out of a pub following threats of violence.
Later that evening, he called his victim asking to stay the night, which she agreed to under the condition he did not enter the main living area.
However, Wallace-Clark barged into the room and started arguing, at which point his victim told him to leave and threatened to call the police.
Despite barricading the door with a couch, he forced his way in and began assaulting her and her friend, repeatedly punching her in the face and kicking her friend.
He also threatened to kill her and her friend, stating, "please don't ring the police," and later, "f*** this, I'm going to get a knife, you two are dead." During the attack, Wallace-Clark also took a phone out of her hand.
The court photos showed that the victim suffered multiple injuries including lumps to her forehead, right eye, and back of her head, a hole in her lip, and a mark on her back.
She subsequently went to hospital, where scans revealed a sprained neck and concussion.
Her friend also sustained a large lump to the back of her head.
Wallace-Clark was later found to have left the scene before police arrived and was taken into custody following an earlier voluntary interview in which he denied assault causing actual bodily harm, threats to kill, witness intimidation, and other charges.
He later admitted to attacking the victim and her friend, while the Crown dropped some related charges after negotiations.
Wallace-Clark, who has previous convictions for grievous bodily harm and other violent offences, was sentenced to 59 weeks in prison and received indefinite restraining orders preventing him from contacting his victims.
