LIAM SCOTT FROM DARLINGTON CAUGHT IN SHOCKING SEXUAL PREDATION IN COUNTY DURHAM
In June 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving Liam Scott, a 27-year-old chef from Darlington, who engaged in a series of predatory and illegal activities targeting a young boy.The incident unfolded after Scott initiated contact with the 14-year-old victim through a popular gay dating website, where he used the alias 'Warren Taylor 19' and posted profile pictures that did not match his real appearance.
Scott, who was employed at a hotel near Scotch Corner, continued to communicate with the boy despite being aware of his age.
The prosecutor, Jane Waugh, explained that Scott sent explicit images of his genitalia and even a video of himself performing a sexual act.
These exchanges were part of his attempt to lure the young boy into a meeting.
After the initial online interactions, Scott persuaded the boy to switch their messaging to a different account, showing a persistent and manipulative approach.
The two eventually agreed to meet in a railway station car park located in County Durham.
When they met, Scott paid the boy £30 to perform oral sex on him.
However, the boy was reluctant and rejected further advances.
Scott, undeterred, increased his offer to £100 and threatened to commit rape if the boy did not comply.
During the meeting, Scott forced the boy’s head down and filmed the act, later sending the recording to the victim.
The situation escalated when the boy refused to engage in further sexual activity despite Scott’s increased monetary offers.
Scott then made a chilling threat, stating he would go to the boy’s home and carry out a rape, which caused significant distress and fear for the young victim.
Following the incident, the boy’s mother became aware of the online exchanges and reported her concerns to the police.
Scott was arrested in September 2019 but initially responded with “no comment” during police interviews.
It was only through a video identity procedure that authorities were able to confirm Scott’s identity and link him to the crimes.
Throughout the investigation, it was revealed that the boy had been targeted by other sexual predators as well.
The psychological impact on the victim has been profound, especially in light of recent personal tragedies, including the death of a close family member.
In court, Scott pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child.
The judge sentenced him to four and a half years in prison, emphasizing the severity of his actions.
Additionally, Scott was ordered to register as a sex offender, and a restraining order was issued to prevent any contact with the victim indefinitely.
He was also placed under a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to monitor and restrict his future conduct.
