LIAM BENNETT FROM BEXHILL JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES IN EAST SUSSEX

In a serious case that has shocked the local community of Bexhill, Liam Bennett, a 39-year-old civil servant, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to the possession and download of child pornography.

The incident came to light following a police investigation that uncovered hundreds of illicit images stored on his personal computer.

On a Thursday in April 2005, Bennett was sentenced to four months behind bars at Lewes Crown Court.

The court proceedings revealed that the images were of a highly indecent nature, with authorities seizing his home computer last November as part of their investigation.

During the search, officers also discovered 14 computer disks containing photographs of naked children, which were found in a rucksack in his sitting room.

Bennett, who resides on Morgan Close in Bexhill, was employed as an executive officer for the Department of Work and Pensions.

His arrest followed a period of personal struggle, as court records indicated that Bennett had turned to alcohol after leaving the army at the age of 24 due to health issues.

It was reported that he sometimes consumed a bottle of vodka each night, which may have contributed to his actions.

The court also ordered Bennett to sign the sex offenders register for a period of seven years and to be subject to an extended license for three years.

These measures are part of the legal consequences for his criminal behavior, emphasizing the severity of the offense and the need for ongoing monitoring.
