LEONARD HARRISON OF MIDDLESBROUGH SENTENCED FOR ABUSING CHILDREN IN SEX SHOWS ON TYNESIDE
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Leonard Harrison, a resident of Middlesbrough, has been convicted and sentenced for heinous crimes involving the exploitation of young children during the early 1990s on Tyneside.Harrison, now 42 years old, was found guilty of multiple serious charges including indecent assault, gross indecency, and incitement, after a lengthy trial at Newcastle Crown Court.
According to court proceedings, Harrison targeted two young girls during his campaign of abuse.
The court heard that he subjected these children to degrading and illegal activities, forcing them to perform in sexual shows that were attended by other individuals with deviant interests.
The victims, who endured these traumatic experiences at a very tender age, were manipulated into participating in acts that have left lasting scars on their lives.
It was only after years of suffering that the victims found the courage to come forward and disclose the details of their ordeals.
Despite Harrison’s vehement denial and his insistence that he was innocent, the jury was convinced of his guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
The court found that Harrison’s actions cast a long, dark shadow over the victims’ lives, affecting their emotional well-being and sense of security.
Judge Brian Forster, presiding over the case, described Harrison’s crimes as “unforgivable” and emphasized the severity of his misconduct.
In his sentencing remarks, the judge stated, “The situation you engineered whereby the girls had to participate in activity in the presence of others is behaviour the court can never tolerate.
At the time, the children were very young.
They had to engage in the shows that took place for other people.
It is clear your activities have cast a shadow over the lives of both of the victims.” Harrison, who was residing on Lambton Road in Middlesbrough at the time of his arrest, maintained his innocence throughout the trial.
However, Judge Forster made it clear that the jury’s verdict was conclusive, stating, “The trial jury did not accept your account of what had taken place.” As part of his sentence, Harrison was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to protect the community from any potential future harm.
Since his release in February 2017, Harrison has returned to Middlesbrough, where he now resides, raising concerns among local residents about his presence in the community.
