Sentencing Update 04 December 2025: A rapist has been jailed for five years after audio captured during the attack was played to a court where the victim is heard asking him to stop.Leon Thomas, 53, formerly of Farina Close, Ipswich, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, November 27, having been found guilty of rape at an earlier hearing.
He was handed five years in prison and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Conviction: A 52-year-old Ipswich man has been found guilty of raping a drunk woman, a court has heard.
The jury at Ipswich Crown Court, where Leon Thomas of Fulham Way was convicted, has scheduled a sentencing for November 7.
The incident took place in 2019 after Thomas visited the woman at her home.
During their conversation, she expressed that she was still in love with her ex-boyfriend.
Prosecutor Emma Nash described how Thomas attempted to kiss her and became upset when she refused to have sex.
He allegedly removed her shorts, leaving her naked from the waist down, and said, “What if I just took it?” The woman told him it was not going to happen, and, upon going into the kitchen, she saw Thomas standing naked in her bedroom.
She reported that Thomas said, “Come here,” before pushing her onto the bed and engaging in sex despite her protests, as shown in a video recorded by the victim and played in court where she can be heard saying, “Stop.
I don’t want it.
Seriously, I genuinely I don’t want it.” The victim also stated she made it clear to Thomas she did not want to have sex.
After the assault, she researched claims for compensation for rape online, which she only did after police advised her about these options.
Police officers who saw her afterward described her as very intoxicated.
Thomas initially denied being in the video but later admitted it was him.
He claimed the sex was consensual before being convicted of rape.
