LEE PARMLEY CAUGHT IN BLYTH EXPOSED IN QUEEN ELIZABETH II COUNTRY PARK

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park located in Ashington, Northumberland, Lee Parmley, a former footballer who once represented England at the under-16 level, was caught engaging in indecent behavior in broad daylight. The incident occurred in July 2019 and was reported to the police by a vigilant member of the public who witnessed the troubling scene.

According to court proceedings, Parmley, aged 38 at the time, was observed in a wooded area within the park, with his trousers around his ankles. The witness saw him exposing himself and engaging in masturbation. The police were called immediately after the witness's report, and officers approached the scene to find Parmley in the act, with two pornographic magazines pulled from a black bag and his trousers and underwear lowered.

Despite being caught in the act, Parmley initially denied the allegations, claiming that the officers had misinterpreted the situation and that he was merely sitting and smoking a cigarette. He insisted that he had only found the magazines on the ground and was not engaging in any inappropriate activity. However, after further questioning, he admitted to the offense and pleaded guilty to a charge of outraging public decency during his court appearance at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Parmley’s career in football had once shown promise, but his subsequent decline into drug use and criminal activity had effectively ended his aspirations in the sport. Prosecutor James Long detailed the events, stating that police received a call around 11:15 am on March 26 of the same year, reporting a male exposing himself in the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park. Officers approached from behind and observed Parmley standing in a wooded area, with both hands down his trousers. He then pulled down his trousers and underwear, exposing his genitals, and proceeded to take out two magazines, which were later confirmed to be pornographic.

When questioned by the police, Parmley stood with his trousers and underwear still around his ankles. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. During a police interview, he maintained that the witnesses were mistaken and that he had only been smoking a cigarette, claiming the magazines had been found on the ground. His defense did not sway the court, which imposed a 12-month community order, including 15 days of activity requirements. Additionally, Parmley was ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and contribute £40 towards court costs. The magistrates also issued a 12-month exclusion zone, banning him from entering Queen Elizabeth II Park during this period.

Parmley, who resides on Waterloo Road in Blyth but is currently staying in accommodation near Byker Bridge, faced serious consequences for his actions, which have marred his reputation and ended his hopes of a return to professional football.
