DONCASTER POLICE OFFICER DENIES SEX ASSAULT CHARGES DURING COURT TRIAL
The victim of an alleged sex assault by a police firearms officer was reported to have become very panicked after the incident, a court has heard. The court heard that Lee Meadows, then working for North Yorkshire Police, allegedly put his arms around the woman and "thrust" himself against her as she walked ahead of him on 25 September 2020.
Meadows, aged 45 from Doncaster, denies a single charge of sexual assault.
During the trial, a friend of the woman stated she confided in her several months later, expressing concern about speaking up initially.
The friend described the victim as anxious, upset, and very panicked during their conversation.
She also explained that the victim told her Meadows had pushed his body onto her sexually from behind and whispered in her ear.
In another separate conversation, Meadows was accused of grabbing his crotch and making suggestive remarks, which the victim found offensive.
The friend also said the incident had altered the woman from a once positive and sociable person into someone more introverted.
A second friend confirmed that the victim appeared visibly upset when discussing the incident and was reluctant to bring it up.
Meadows no longer works for the police.
Following his arrest, he dismissed the complaint as "false" and "malicious" in a prepared statement but refused to answer questions further.
The trial continues.
