LEE JONES FROM DONCASTER: BRUTAL ABUSER TARGETS EX-PARTNER IN SCAWTHORPE
Lee Jones, a 29-year-old man from Burnham Grove, Scawthorpe, has been convicted of a series of violent and abusive acts against his former partner, revealing a disturbing pattern of control and brutality.The court heard that Jones’s relationship with the woman, which began in May 2019, was marred by repeated episodes of violence, humiliation, and intimidation.
Throughout their time together, Jones subjected his partner to relentless physical assaults.
He was accused of beating her on multiple occasions, including smashing a mirror over her body, ripping her clothes and underwear, and inflicting friction burns.
These acts of violence created a climate of fear and instability for the woman, who was often left physically and emotionally scarred.
Last summer, the violence escalated further when Jones kicked her in the face and attacked her with a metal spanner.
As the festive season approached, his controlling behavior persisted; he accused her of infidelity, checked her mobile phone regularly, and on one occasion, shattered a mirror and struck her legs.
The court was told that three weeks later, Jones threatened to strangle her in front of her young daughter, adding a terrifying dimension to his abuse.
On January 9, the situation reached a new level of violence.
Jones accused his ex-partner of cheating once again and became enraged.
During the confrontation, he attempted to force bedsheets into her mouth to prevent her from breathing and later threw hot water at her face.
The court heard that Jones also issued threats to kill her and any man she might be with if they ever crossed paths again, highlighting the severity of his threats and the ongoing danger he posed.
Judge David Gordon remarked that Jones’s violence was largely confined to private settings, emphasizing the hidden nature of his abuse.
The victim, in a heartfelt statement, expressed her fear that the trauma inflicted by Jones would have lasting effects on her life.
In court, Jones admitted to engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, acknowledging the pattern of abuse.
As a result, he was sentenced to 27 months in prison.
Additionally, he was placed under an indefinite restraining order, which prohibits him from making any contact with his former partner, aiming to protect her from further harm and ensure her safety moving forward.
