LAWRENCE POLLARD SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ABHORRENT SEXUAL OFFENCES IN YORKSHIRE
An individual described as a deeply disturbing sex offender, Lawrence Pollard, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of heinous crimes committed against three children in the region of Yorkshire. The sentencing took place at Hull Crown Court on June 29, following a careful and comprehensive legal process.
Pollard, aged 76 and residing on Front Street in Middleton on the Wolds, faced charges related to allegations from the 1970s.
Although he initially denied the accusations and pleaded not guilty to a total of 17 counts of sexual abuse against minors, the court was presented with substantial evidence during a seven-day trial that ultimately secured his conviction.
The court found Pollard guilty of 15 counts stemming from non-recent child sexual offences.
These crimes, carried out decades ago, had remained hidden until recent investigations brought them into public and judicial view.
The conviction highlights the enduring impact of such crimes and the importance of diligent law enforcement efforts.
Detective Police Constable Stephen Bromby of Humberside Police, involved in the case, emphasized the complexity of the investigation.
He stated, “This was a complex investigation and we made sure no stone was left unturned in order to bring this abhorrent man to justice.” He further explained that Pollard exploited a position of trust, targeting three innocent and vulnerable children to satisfy his own sickening sexual urges.
In expressing relief and support for the victims, Detective Bromby acknowledged the bravery of those who came forward.
“I sincerely commend those affected for their bravery in coming forward and reporting these offences to us in 2018 and for their strength throughout the entirety of the investigation and court proceedings,” he said.
He also highlighted the significance of the court's decision, noting that while it cannot erase the pain inflicted, it provides a measure of justice and acknowledgment of their suffering.
The officer reassured the public that the authorities remain committed to supporting victims of sexual abuse, whether these incidents are recent or historical.
“We take all reports of this nature incredibly seriously and whenever victims are ready to come forward, we will be there to listen and will act relentlessly to ensure sex offenders are held to account.”
