KRISTOPHER JONES SHOCKS FORMBY WITH EXPOSED BEHAVIOR NEAR SCHOOL GIRLS

In March 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded in the quiet town of Formby involving Kristopher Jones, a 32-year-old man whose actions shocked the local community and garnered the attention of law enforcement. The incident took place as two secondary school girls were walking along a street near their school, passing by Jones's residence.

According to court reports, the girls noticed that Jones's front door was partially open as they approached his home. They observed him standing in the porch, wearing only a polo neck top, with the rest of his body exposed. At that moment, Jones was looking directly at the girls, which added to their discomfort and alarm. The girls continued on their way, but later, when they returned along the same street, they deliberately avoided passing by Jones's house. Instead, they crossed the road to steer clear of him.

As they moved past his residence a second time, they heard a loud bang emanating from the house. Turning back, they saw that the door was now fully open. Jones was positioned with his back to the street, with his legs spread apart and leaning forward. In this vulnerable position, he had exposed his bare buttocks and genitals to the girls, who were left in a state of shock and disgust. One of the girls later described feeling a 'sickly' sensation in her stomach due to the incident.

Witnesses and police reports confirmed that Jones's behavior was highly inappropriate and distressing. The girls, visibly shaken, recounted the incident to authorities, leading to Jones's arrest shortly afterward. During police interviews, Jones expressed confusion and claimed he 'can't wrap his head around it,' despite the clear evidence against him. One of the girls was able to positively identify him in a police lineup, solidifying the case.

It was also revealed that Jones had prior convictions, including for drink driving, and in 2018, he was convicted of shoplifting and theft. These previous offenses painted a troubling picture of his criminal history.

Jones ultimately admitted to two counts of outraging public decency, a charge that, while serious, is not classified as a sexual offence and does not require registration on the Sex Offenders Register. Notably, the original charges of exposure were dropped during proceedings.

During sentencing, Judge David Aubrey, QC, acknowledged that Jones's issues stemmed from significant personal injuries that had severely impacted his career as a promising footballer. The judge commented on the influence of substance abuse, noting that Jones's drug use and the resulting state of mind contributed to his behavior. The judge also expressed sympathy for Jones's parents, who had endured considerable distress watching him struggle with addiction and its consequences.

While the offences were serious, the judge decided on a sentence of eight months' imprisonment, suspended for one and a half years, reflecting the court's consideration of the circumstances and Jones's personal struggles. The ruling underscored the gravity of his actions but also took into account the mitigating factors presented during the case.
