BIRMINGHAM PAEDOPHILE KIRK THOMPSON FILMED 35 MINUTE ABUSE OF 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD CHILDREN RELEASED AFTER 1 YEAR
The mother of two young sisters, who were subjected to abuse via webcam by a watching paedophile, has expressed her outrage following the early release of the perpetrator from prison.Kirk Thompson, aged 25, received a two-year sentence for orchestrating a disturbing 35-minute abuse of the four- and three-year-old girls.
In addition, he was given an extra four months for possessing indecent images of children on a computer seized during a police raid at his home in Kitts Green, Birmingham.
His accomplice, a 17-year-old girl acting as a babysitter, was sentenced to a three-year period of community supervision, and both individuals have been registered as sex offenders.
Thompson has now been released after serving only half of his sentence and will remain under probation supervision.
The mother, who remains anonymous for legal reasons, criticized the release, stating, "Getting out after a year is shameful.
He should still be behind bars." She was notified of his release approximately a month earlier and mentioned she is unaware of his current location.
She further commented, "I believe both sentences should have been tougher." The abuse took place in July 2009, after Thompson engaged the babysitter in a chat on Microsoft Messenger, during which he requested that the children be shown on camera, leading to the incident.
Despite the traumatic event, she reports her children do not recall what happened and are coping well at school.
A spokesman from the probation service confirmed Thompson's release, explaining that he had served the maximum time permissible under prison regulations.
It is also noted that sex offenders released on licence are subject to ongoing monitoring and supervision, with the potential for recall to prison if their behavior causes concern.
