March 2012 Police found thousands of pictures and films on computer A web designer has admitted downloading thousands of indecent images of children from the internet. Kieron Thomas, of Parsonage Road, Hilperton, scoured the web for pictures and films of abuse, using the images of young boys for his own sexual gratification. But after hearing a prison term would not be long enough for the 23-year-old to get treatment, a judge imposed a community order. Colin Meeke, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court on Wednesday that police discovered Thomas’ crimes through investigations of a website. In September 2010 police searched his home and took away computers. They found he had been downloading images, most involving under-13s, for more than six years. One computer had 2,690 images. Another 1,005 pictures and films were on CDs andDVDs. Thomas admitted 10 counts of making and one of possessing indecent images of children. Most of the downloading was done when he was aged 16 to 18, with none later than 2008. Judge Douglas Field imposed a three-year supervision order and told him to complete a sex offender programme, banned him from ever working with children and said he must register as a sex offender for five years.
