KEVIN STILGOE FROM NORTHAMPTON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Northampton community, Kevin Stilgoe, a 65-year-old resident of St Johns Close in Northampton, has been sentenced to prison after police uncovered an extensive collection of illegal and highly disturbing images and videos.The investigation was initiated following a police raid on Stilgoe’s home on April 6, 2021, prompted by intelligence suggesting that indecent images of children had been accessed from his property.
During the search, law enforcement officials seized a laptop and 19 USB sticks from Stilgoe’s bedside table, which were later examined for evidence.
Prosecutor Quiana Fitzpatrick revealed that the devices contained a staggering total of 82,992 indecent images and videos of children, dating from January 2014 to April 2021.
These materials included graphic content depicting the torture and abuse of young victims, some as young as infants.
Additionally, authorities found nine images depicting sexual acts involving a dog, highlighting the severity and depravity of the material stored by Stilgoe.
Stilgoe was confronted with the evidence and, during police interviews, he made full admissions of his actions.
He was recorded stating, “I am going to prison.
There are millions on there,” and insisted, “In real life, I have never looked at a child inappropriately.” Despite his claims, the evidence painted a different picture, with the court being told that he deliberately searched for specific terms such as “nude girls in Northampton” and “mum and son incest,” using software to anonymize his internet activity and access these illicit images.
The defendant also organized the images into labeled folders, making it easier for him to locate particular content.
It was also revealed that Stilgoe had no prior convictions related to sexual offenses, although he had previous convictions for anti-social behavior.
The court learned that his offending was preceded by a troubling incident at a local pub, where he made threats of sexual violence towards family members, leading him to become a reclusive individual.
Judge Mayo DL addressed the court, expressing particular concern over the case.
He noted, “What I find particularly chilling about this case is the fact that you almost bankrupted yourself to pay fees to get these images and videos.” The judge emphasized the gravity of the crimes, stating, “These children — each and every one of them — were being abused by the people making those films for people like you.” He further condemned Stilgoe’s lack of understanding of the severity of his actions, describing it as a serious abuse of children.
As a result of his crimes, Kevin Stilgoe was sentenced to 20 months in prison.
Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and will be registered on the Sex Offenders Register for the same period.
The court also ordered the police to seize and destroy the laptop and USB devices involved in the case, ensuring that these materials are permanently removed from circulation and cannot cause further harm.
