KEVIN KING GROOMED TRAMERE GIRL WITH GIFTS AND SEXUAL ABUSE FOR YEARS

In January 2023, a disturbing case emerged involving Kevin King, a man from Tranmere, who subjected a young girl to years of grooming and sexual abuse. The victim, whose identity remains protected, was manipulated and exploited over a prolonged period, with King using gifts such as fizzy drinks and Timberland boots to lure her into a false sense of security.

According to court proceedings, Kevin King, aged 55 and residing on Maybank Road in Tranmere, engaged in repeated acts of abuse against the girl, starting when she was as young as 13 years old. The abuse spanned over three years, during which King assaulted her on multiple occasions. The court heard that he instructed her to perform sexual acts on him and forced her to watch pornography, further traumatizing her.

In addition to these heinous acts, King demanded that she give him pairs of her underwear, a disturbing detail that underscored the extent of his manipulation. Despite his advances, the girl refused to have sex with him, but King continued to exert control through other means.

Throughout this period, King showered her with gifts, including clothing, shoes—most notably Timberland boots—and bottles of Dr Pepper. He told her these items were part of a “secret,” warning her that she would “get into trouble” if she disclosed what was happening. This manipulation aimed to silence her and maintain his control over her.

The victim eventually reported the abuse to the police in 2019, revealing the full extent of King’s actions to law enforcement and confiding in her family. Her courage in coming forward was a pivotal moment in bringing the case to court.

During the trial, a heartfelt statement was read on her behalf, in which she described the lasting impact of King’s actions. She expressed feelings of being “trapped” and shared her ongoing struggles with mental health issues and flashbacks. She stated, “I felt trapped. I would wake at night wishing I had a normal life — he ruined a massive chunk of my life.”

Following a thorough trial, the jury unanimously convicted Kevin King on multiple counts. He was found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and two charges of causing a child to watch sexual activity. The verdict marked a significant step in justice for the victim and highlighted the severity of his crimes.
