KEVIN KENDALL'S HORRIFIC ABUSE IN HALIFAX: SCHOOLGIRLS' NIGHTMARE ENDS IN FIVE-YEAR SENTENCE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Halifax, Kevin Kendall, aged 29, of Edward Close, Northowram, was sentenced to a total of five years and three months in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young schoolgirls. The court heard that Kendall engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior involving two victims who were between the ages of seven and 12 at the time of the abuse. The offences spanned a period when Kendall was between 15 and 17 years old, revealing a troubling timeline of exploitation during his teenage years.
Prosecutor Peter Moulson detailed the nature of Kendall’s crimes, which included forcing the girls to touch him, simulating sexual acts, fondling them, and on one particularly disturbing occasion, making one of the victims watch a pornographic film while he committed a lewd act. These acts were carried out in a manner that left the victims deeply traumatized and fearful.
Both victims, whose identities are protected for legal reasons, recounted being threatened by Kendall to keep silent about the abuse. One of the girls, in particular, did not disclose her ordeal until she was 17 years old, highlighting the extent of her fear and the manipulation she endured.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Kendall has a disfigured hand, a physical characteristic that has subjected him to persistent bullying throughout his life. Despite this, Kendall expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging the harm he caused.
Judge Roger Scott addressed Kendall directly, noting that while he understood Kendall’s claims of being bullied because of his disfigurement, his actions towards the two young girls were utterly unacceptable. The judge emphasized that bullying does not justify such behavior and pointed out the common pattern where perpetrators of abuse have themselves been victims of bullying.
Judge Scott described the offences as “quite horrible,” underscoring the severity of the crimes committed. As part of his sentence, Kendall was ordered to be subject to a sexual offences prevention order and was placed on the Sex Offender Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of sexual abuse on young victims and the importance of justice in holding offenders accountable, especially within the community of Halifax where these crimes took place.
