Kevin Greer

Cardigan Sexual Abuser

January 2017 Man guilty of possession of child abuse images A man who was found in possession of a stash of indecent images of children stored alongside family photographs in a secret phone app has been warned he could face a prison sentence. Police went to Kevin Greer’s address in Street and seized his iPhone and other equipment and found a number of indecent images involving children as young as two years old. They retrieved them from an app called Secret Box after the defendant readily offered his password to the officers and they were able to access them. They also recovered several foil wraps at his home which contained a quantity of amphetamine (class B). Greer, 47, of Ferwig, Cardigan, pleaded guilty to being in possession of indecent images of children in the most serious category A at Street on August 24. He also admitted two further similar offences involving category B images and category C images. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of 1.4g of amphetamine on the same date when he appeared before District Judge David Taylor, sitting at Yeovil. Christine Hart, prosecuting, said that information was received by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States regarding indecent images accessed from a Twitter account using an email address linked to Greer. “Officers went to his address and when they spoke to the defendant he said he would make it easy for them and his Iphone and computer were then seized along with three foil wraps,” she said. “A number of images were found on his Iphone inside an encrypted app called “Secret Box”, and during interview he admitted possessing the indecent images and said he had been sent them to his Twitter account from unknown people. “He said he deleted some of them but could not explain why he decided to keep some of the images and hide them in a secret app along with other images of adult pornography and family photos.” He also said he used amphetamine to keep himself awake after night shifts during his employment as a lorry driver, but did not take it while he was working. The district judge adjourned the case against Greer until February 2 for a pre sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service. In the meantime he ordered him to sign on the national Sex Offenders Register and also released him on unconditional bail.
