KEVIN DAVIS, CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER IN CORNWALL, SENTENCED TO ADDITIONAL TWO AND A HALF YEARS IN PRISON
A sex offender with a criminal record in Cornwall has been re-incarcerated after receiving a further prison sentence of two and a half years for breaching a court order intended to prevent further offending.
Kevin Davis, 60 years old, appeared at Truro Crown Court on Tuesday, April 2, where he pleaded guilty to violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) issued last year.
This plea was entered just before he was set to start a two-day trial over the same offence.
Davis was living at a bail hostel in Camborne following his release from HMP Channings Wood on August 17, 2023, where he had been serving a previous sentence.
After his release, authorities installed monitoring software on his laptop.
On October 3, 2023, police were alerted when the device linked to Davis showed concerning activity.
An investigation revealed Davis had viewed a small number of Category C indecent images of children and had also deleted his search history from the laptop, in violation of the conditions set by his SHPO, which restricts his internet access and attempts to prevent contact with minors.
During the sentencing, Davis was reminded of the restrictions of his SHPO — aimed at limiting his interactions with children and monitoring his online activity — and was sentenced to an additional two and a half years in prison.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely, and his laptop will be destroyed.
PC Mark Kutler-Pearce of the Public Protection Unit, based in Bodmin, commented: “Davis has a long history of offending behaviour, and upon his release in August 2023, he was under strict police monitoring.
The sentence handed down by the court on April 2 serves to keep a dangerous individual from committing further offences against the public, and we believe it is a just outcome for the crime committed.”
