KEVIN COLEMAN FROM BLACKBURN AND LYTHAM ST ANNES JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN THE 1970S
In a case that has spanned decades, Kevin Richard Coleman, an 82-year-old man from Saltcotes Road, Lytham St Annes, was sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of indecent assault.The crimes, which took place during the 1970s, involved two young boys who were between the ages of eight and thirteen at the time of the abuse.
According to court proceedings held at Preston Crown Court, Coleman was found guilty of ten separate counts of indecent assault.
The incidents occurred in various locations, including a private residence in Blackburn and a caravan park in Heysham.
These locations provided the setting for the disturbing acts committed by Coleman against the young victims.
The allegations came to light after the victims reported the abuse to authorities in 2017, decades after the incidents took place.
The investigation was led by Detective Simon Morris, who expressed his condemnation of Coleman's actions.
He stated, “Kevin Coleman abused these two young boys over a number of years and robbed them of their childhood to satisfy his own depraved sexual desires.” Kevin Coleman, who was formerly a resident of Blackburn before moving to Lytham St Annes, now faces the consequences of his actions in a court of law.
The case highlights the importance of reporting historical abuse and the justice that can be achieved even many years after the crimes occurred.
