KENTIGERN MILMINE ARRESTED IN LEEDS AND DORCHESTER FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGE OFFENSES

In September of the previous year, authorities took decisive action against Kentigern Milmine, a man residing in Leeds, after discovering disturbing evidence of child exploitation on his personal computer equipment. The police raid targeted his residence located in the Harehills area of Leeds, where they uncovered a troubling collection of indecent images involving minors.

During the operation, law enforcement officials examined a laptop computer along with two external hard drives. Their investigation revealed that these devices contained numerous illegal images and videos depicting the abuse of children. The severity of the case prompted the authorities to place Milmine on bail temporarily, allowing him to relocate to a friary in Dorset, seeking perhaps a quieter or more secluded environment.

However, the investigation did not end there. In April of the following year, police officers visited the friary in Hilfield, Dorset, where Milmine was now residing. During this subsequent search, they confiscated another laptop and a memory stick, which further contained additional illegal images. Prosecutor Heather Gilmore confirmed that a total of 119 illicit images and movies were recovered from all devices combined. These images depicted the abuse of boys aged between three and sixteen years old, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material involved.

When questioned by officers, Milmine, aged 47, claimed that he believed the images he accessed were all of adult males over the age of 18. He explained that he had obtained these images while searching for gay pornography, suggesting a possible motive or context for his actions. At the time of his arrest and subsequent interviews, Milmine was affiliated with The Society of St Francis at The Friary in Hilfield, Dorchester.

He ultimately pleaded guilty to ten charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children. During the court proceedings, defense lawyer Lindsey Lobley pointed out that Milmine had been moved from Leeds to Dorchester between the times of the offenses, implying a change in environment and circumstances. She also emphasized that his role at the friary would not involve contact with children and that he was willing to undergo treatment to address his offending behavior.

In sentencing, Judge Sally Cahill, QC, expressed concern over the fact that Milmine continued to offend even after the initial devices had been seized in Leeds. She underscored the importance of treatment, stating, “I take the view that you need treatment,” and imposed a three-year community order. As part of this order, Milmine is required to participate in a sex offenders treatment program, aiming to reduce the risk of reoffending and to address underlying issues related to his behavior.
