KENNETH MOORE JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN LISKEARD AND REDRUTH
In November 2019, Kenneth Moore, a 74-year-old man from Oaklands Road in Liskeard, was sentenced to prison for his involvement in multiple sexual offenses against young girls.The case was heard at Truro Crown Court, where Moore pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
The prosecution, led by barrister Philip Lee, detailed the disturbing pattern of Moore’s predatory behavior spanning several years.
The first victim, whom Moore targeted in the mid-1990s in Newquay, was approximately 14 years old at the time.
According to the court, Moore inappropriately touched her breast and attempted to manipulate her into watching a blue movie, claiming it was not hardcore and suggesting it might teach her something.
This initial assault left the young girl feeling frightened, confused, and vulnerable.
Several years later, when the first victim was 20 years old, Moore re-established contact with her.
During this encounter, he put his arm around her waist and made unsettling remarks, including, “I’ll always be here for you,” and expressed a desire to do “naughty things” to her.
The court heard that Moore’s hand moved over her body and touched her breast again, causing her to feel isolated, unsupported, and guilty about what had transpired.
In addition to the offenses against the first victim, Moore’s misconduct extended to a second victim in January 2018 in Redruth.
Mr.
Lee described how Moore ran his hands over her body, including under her clothes, and ultimately touched her vagina.
The second victim, overwhelmed and feeling physically sick, kept her eyes closed during the assault.
She later described feeling disgusting and expressed that she did not want to look at her own body afterward.
Judge Simon Carr, presiding over the case, sentenced Moore to three years and nine months in prison.
The judge also ordered Moore to sign the sex offenders’ register for life, emphasizing the severity of his predatory behavior.
Judge Carr remarked that Moore would remain a predatory paedophile until the end of his life, highlighting the fact that the offenses had been committed over a span of years, while Moore had the opportunity to live his life without consequence.
Meanwhile, the victims continue to suffer the emotional and psychological scars inflicted by his actions.
