KEITH SIMPSON FROM FLEETWOOD CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGE OFFENSES IN PRESTON

In a case that has drawn significant attention, Keith Simpson, a 46-year-old resident of Warrenhurst Road in Fleetwood, faced charges related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children. The proceedings, held at Preston Crown Court, revealed that Simpson had admitted to three counts of making such images, which include photographs and videos of a highly disturbing nature.

The court heard that Simpson's offenses spanned a period from May 19 to May 23 of the previous year. The evidence presented indicated that he possessed a total of 15 images classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe classification under the law. These included 11 individual pictures and four videos, all depicting indecent content involving children.

In addition to these, Simpson also admitted to creating 13 images and one video categorized as Category B, which denotes a lesser degree of severity but still involves indecent material. Furthermore, he was found to have made 42 pictures and a video classified as Category C, representing the least severe level of such content.

The case was scheduled for sentencing, but the court, presided over by Judge Sara Dodd, decided to postpone the proceedings. The judge explained that the delay was necessary because Simpson was found to have significant learning difficulties, which required additional consideration before a final judgment could be made.

The case has been adjourned until July 29, allowing for further assessments and preparations before the sentencing phase. The court's decision underscores the importance of ensuring that defendants with learning difficulties receive appropriate legal consideration and support during such serious proceedings.
