GEORGE MOLE'S CRIMINAL REIGN OF TERROR IN BLACKPOOL AND FLEETWOOD: SEX OFFENDER'S REPEATED BREACHES AND JAIL SENTENCE

In a series of disturbing incidents spanning over several months, Geoffrey Mole, an 80-year-old man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, has been repeatedly caught violating court orders designed to restrict his movements and interactions with minors in the Blackpool and Fleetwood areas. His persistent breaches have culminated in a prison sentence, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in managing high-risk sex offenders.

In December 2013, Geoffrey Mole faced a grim holiday season behind bars after admitting to his seventh breach of a court-mandated sex offenders’ register. The breach involved failing to notify police of his new address between December 12 and 16, a requirement he had previously neglected multiple times. Mole, formerly residing on Adelaide Street in Blackpool but now without a fixed address, also pleaded guilty to violating a suspended prison sentence. The magistrates in Blackpool sentenced him to nine weeks in prison, emphasizing the seriousness of his repeated violations.

Historically, Mole had been banned from using public transportation during peak hours and from loitering near bus stops following his involvement in sexually assaulting two schoolgirls on a bus. These restrictions were part of a broader effort to prevent further offenses, and he was placed on the sex offenders’ register along with a Sex Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). Despite these measures, Mole continued to breach the conditions. Prosecutor Pam Smith highlighted that Mole failed to inform authorities of his new address within the mandated period, a clear violation of his legal obligations. This was not an isolated incident; he had previously breached the register twice and the SOPO four times, demonstrating a pattern of non-compliance.

Defense attorney Michael Woosnam acknowledged his client’s age and mental state, stating, “Age appears to be catching up with him and he has some degree of confusion,” suggesting that these factors might have contributed to his repeated breaches. Nevertheless, the court’s decision reflected the ongoing concern about his potential risk to the community.

Earlier in October 2013, Mole’s dangerous behavior was further underscored when he was sentenced to 70 days in jail for breaching a court order. This order specifically prohibited him from traveling on public transport or loitering near bus stops during certain hours. The magistrate, Susan Tait, condemned his blatant disregard for court directives, noting that this was his fourth breach of a court order, including a SOPO that restricted his movements and interactions with minors. The court’s records reveal that Mole had previously followed two young girls into a graveyard in Poulton and was caught looking up another girl’s skirt, actions that exemplify his high-risk status.

In June 2013, Mole was arrested after attempting to chat up two teenage girls in Blackpool town center. The incident involved a conversation with two girls aged 14 and 15, where he offered to buy them coffee if they visited a particular café the following day. This breach of his SOPO, which barred him from contact with children under 16 and restricted his travel during specific hours, resulted in a 12-week suspended sentence and a one-year supervision order. Prosecutor Martine Connah pointed out that Mole had previously missed appointments and failed to adhere to curfews, further illustrating his ongoing non-compliance.

Throughout these incidents, Mole’s defense argued that forgetfulness and confusion played roles in his repeated violations. They also highlighted his fear of unfamiliar environments and his lack of a support network, which may have contributed to his difficulties in adhering to court orders. Despite these explanations, the courts remained firm in their stance, emphasizing the importance of public safety and the need to monitor high-risk offenders like Mole closely.

Overall, Geoffrey Mole’s case underscores the persistent challenge law enforcement and judicial authorities face in managing individuals with a history of sexual offenses. His repeated breaches and the subsequent imprisonment serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing risks posed by high-risk sex offenders in the Blackpool and Fleetwood communities.
