In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Southport, Keith Richings, a 36-year-old former window fitter, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following his conviction for the sexual abuse of a young girl.

The heinous acts took place over a span of two years, during which the victim, who was only 11 years old at the time of the initial assault, endured repeated sexual violations.

Richings was found guilty by Liverpool Crown Court after a detailed trial that uncovered the extent of his crimes.

The court established that he had twice committed acts of sexual penetration against the young girl, who was under the age of 13 at the time of the first assault.
