KEITH BRADY FROM NORTON CAINES AND SOLIHULL JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY

In June 2017, Keith Brady, a man with a troubling history and connections to Norton Caines and Solihull, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of heinous crimes involving a young child. Brady, aged 31 and residing on High Street in Norton Caines near Cannock, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl at her home in Solihull, a case that shocked the local community and drew significant attention from law enforcement authorities.

Brady had previously pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to two counts of sexually assaulting a child and two counts of possessing extreme pornography. His criminal activities extended beyond these offenses, as he also admitted to possessing prohibited ammunition—specifically, 40 Radway Green 5.56mm bullets, which he had retained from his time serving in the Army. The court heard that Brady’s actions and possession of such ammunition posed a serious threat to public safety and, more specifically, to children.

During the sentencing, Judge Andrew Lockhart QC emphasized the danger Brady represented to the community, especially to vulnerable children. The judge imposed an extended prison sentence of seven years and two months, requiring Brady to serve at least two-thirds of this term before being eligible for parole. Even after release, Brady will remain on license for the remainder of his sentence, with an additional six-year period during which he can be recalled to prison if his behavior raises concerns. This extended supervision underscores the severity with which the court views his crimes and potential risk to society.

Prosecutor Matthew Barnes detailed the disturbing circumstances surrounding the case. He explained that last year, a young girl confided in her grandmother that Brady had engaged in inappropriate behavior towards her when she was younger. The girl revealed that Brady had touched her private parts and her bottom during visits to her home in Solihull, where Brady was living at the time and knew her mother. Brady had also told the girl not to tell her mother or grandmother, claiming that the police were bad people and that revealing what he had done would lead to their intervention.

Following the girl’s disclosure, her grandmother reported the incident to her mother, and the NSPCC was contacted. Law enforcement authorities swiftly intervened, leading to Brady’s arrest. During police questioning, Brady denied the allegations, claiming that such acts made him feel sick. However, investigators uncovered a disturbing collection of material on his devices. His laptop contained a 'fishing book'—a term used for a personal collection—where he had recorded several website names and lists of sexual words, indicating a preoccupation with such content.

Further examination revealed that Brady’s laptop contained two inaccessible indecent images of children, although no charges were filed specifically related to these images. On his phone, police discovered a photograph Brady had taken of the young girl holding a gun, adding to the evidence of his disturbing behavior. Additionally, authorities found over 500 images depicting extreme pornography, including acts of bestiality, which are considered among the most depraved forms of material.

In a further breach of the law, police recovered 40 rounds of ammunition from Brady’s possession—ammunition he had retained from his military service, despite no longer being authorized to hold such items. This possession, combined with his other criminal activities, painted a picture of a man who posed a significant threat to public safety and children alike.

Judge Lockhart sentenced Brady to serve a total of seven years and two months in prison. He also ordered Brady to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities upon release. Addressing Brady directly, the judge stated, “You subjected her to the most appalling abuse, and in the background was the most sinister and worrying material.”

The judge further condemned Brady’s possession of depraved images, noting that he derived sexual satisfaction from images involving animals and sex acts with them. “Day after day, these courts hear of disturbing material, but this case is in a different category,” he remarked. “You were in possession of over 500 images of bestiality. You also kept ammunition from your time in the Army, which you plainly held onto after a shooting exercise.”

Concluding his remarks, Judge Lockhart expressed hope that the young girl involved would not suffer lifelong psychological harm due to Brady’s actions. He emphasized that Brady’s behavior demonstrated a clear and ongoing danger to children, a threat that the court could not ignore. As a result, he declared Brady a dangerous offender, indicating that his risk to society remains significant and that his release would be highly irresponsible given the evidence presented.
