JUSTIN SANDILANDS FROM SHEFFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LUTON

In August 2021, a man from Shefford, identified as Justin Sandilands, was sentenced to a total of four years in prison following his guilty plea to serious criminal charges involving a young girl and the possession of indecent images. The case was heard at Luton Crown Court, where the court heard that Sandilands, aged 43 and residing on Church Street in Shefford, committed a child sexual offence that dated back to 2019.

The victim, whose identity remains protected, confided in a family member about the assault. This disclosure prompted the family member to contact law enforcement authorities, leading to an investigation. Police officers responded swiftly, and during the arrest of Sandilands, a number of digital devices were seized from his residence. These devices were subsequently handed over to Bedfordshire Police’s Digital Forensic Unit for detailed examination.

Investigators meticulously analyzed the contents of the seized devices, uncovering a disturbing collection of illegal material. The forensic review revealed thousands of indecent images of children, along with extreme pornography, which was deemed highly incriminating evidence against Sandilands.

Following the investigation, Sandilands was charged and brought before the court. He pleaded guilty to the charges, which included one count of sexual assault on a minor and possession of indecent images. The court sentenced him to 42 months in prison for the sexual assault charge. Additionally, he received a further six months for the possession of indecent images, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for justice to be served for the victims involved.
