DARLINGTON MAN JAILED FOR VICIOUS ASSAULT AND THREATS TO PARTNER
A Darlington business owner named Joynull Hussain was involved in a horrific and demeaning attack on his partner after she contacted the woman he was having an affair with.The incident occurred when the woman Hussain was having an affair with came to confront him at his home, which caused Hussain to become enraged.
He then launched a violent assault on his partner, during which he hit her with his phone, kicked her, and shoved her outside their home.
Hussain dragged her by her hair into the kitchen, forced washing powder into her mouth, and poured washing-up liquid over her head, causing it to enter her eyes.
He then attempted to strangle her with his arms and held a knife to her throat, threatening to kill her.
When she refused to swallow the washing powder, he spat water in her face, took a photo of her while she was covered in washing-up liquid, and threatened to send it to her mother.
Hussain also said he was going to pour boiling water over her head but instead poured water on the floor and dragged her into the bedroom, forcing her head into the toilet and flushing it.
He also placed a plastic bag over her head for 10-15 seconds.
The victim was too scared to tell paramedics the truth, claiming she had been doing laundry and dropped washing powder, which caused her eye pain.
The police, upon arriving, overheard Hussain asking her for money.
The victim later confided in paramedics that she had been assaulted.
Hussain pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threats to kill, and sending malicious communication.
He was sentenced to three years and nine months imprisonment, and an indefinite restraining order was issued to keep him from contacting his victim.
