JOSHUA KEMP FROM BOLTON SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN SHOCKING CASE AT MANCHESTER COURT
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Bolton community, Joshua Kemp, a 27-year-old male nurse, was convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault and rape against his former girlfriend. The case was heard at Manchester Minshull Crown Court, where Kemp faced serious charges related to his abusive behavior spanning several years.
Initially, Kemp pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
However, after a comprehensive trial, the jury found him guilty on three of the five charges brought against him.
The court proceedings revealed a troubling history of violence and coercion used by Kemp against the victim, beginning in 2010 when both were 18 years old.
At that time, Kemp was employed as a care worker, providing services for the elderly and vulnerable members of society.
The court heard that during their relationship, Kemp employed extreme violence to exert control over the girl, using threats and physical force to silence her and maintain dominance.
This pattern of abuse persisted over several years, culminating in the victim summoning the courage to leave him in 2014.
Despite her efforts to escape, Kemp continued his assault on her, raping her again through the use of violence and threats.
The victim, overwhelmed by fear and trauma, eventually reported the repeated rapes to the police, bringing the case to court.
The legal proceedings uncovered a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years, highlighting the severity of Kemp’s actions.
During the period of the trial, Kemp was working at Bolton A&E, a placement that the hospital was aware of despite his criminal charges.
The hospital authorities knew he had been charged with rape but allowed him to continue working there until his court appearance, raising questions about workplace safety and vetting procedures.
In sentencing, the judge handed Kemp three concurrent prison terms of 12 years each.
This means that Kemp will serve a total of 12 years in prison, with six years to be served behind bars and the remaining six on license.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, a legal requirement that will follow him after his release from prison, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
