JOSHUA HUNT FROM TELFORD CAUGHT IN SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING A CHILD NEAR LEEGOMERY AND TELFORD
In a serious case that has shocked the community of Telford, a local teenager named Joshua Hunt has admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a minor, sparking a legal process that has brought attention to the safety of children in the area.According to court records, Hunt, aged 19 at the time, was involved in a disturbing incident that took place in October 2016.
The case revealed that Hunt had initiated contact with a young girl through social media, specifically Instagram, where he sent her messages and eventually obtained her phone number.
This initial online communication led to a meeting in person, which culminated in a troubling incident.
On October 21, Hunt, who resided at Cumberland Mews in Leegomery, picked up the girl from her school in Telford.
The details of the drive and the subsequent events are part of the court proceedings, which confirmed that Hunt engaged in sexual activity with the 14-year-old girl during this encounter.
The case was brought before Shrewsbury Crown Court, where Hunt pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual activity with a child.
In a sentencing hearing held on a Thursday, Hunt was handed a 15-month prison sentence, but this was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offense within that period.
The court also mandated that Hunt complete a 60-day rehabilitation activity requirement and perform 80 hours of unpaid community service.
Furthermore, Hunt was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for ten years, restricting his ability to work with children and prohibiting any unsupervised contact with minors under 18.
The court also ordered him to pay £500 in court costs and a victim surcharge, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense.
Earlier in August 2016, Hunt had already appeared in court to admit to a similar charge involving a teenage girl.
During that hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to the sexual activity with a minor and was granted bail under strict conditions.
These conditions included residence restrictions and a prohibition on unsupervised contact with females under 18, reflecting the court’s concern for public safety and the protection of minors.
The case continues to serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address such serious offenses in the Telford area.
