CHILD RAPIST HAULED BACK TO COURT AFTER HE VIEWED INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A convicted child rapist - who was 13 years old when he raped a boy - moved to Nottingham for "a change of scenery" and got himself a job as a chef.But Joshua Copsey's bid for a fresh start fell apart when illegal images of children were sent to him in an internet chatroom and he looked at them.
He told his lawyer, Roger Wilson, he had been viewing "general porn" when the illegal images were sent through - and he knew it was wrong and should have deleted them.
Copsey was prosecuted for possessing images - ranging from Category A (the most serious) to the lower category of C - and pleaded guilty.
Originally from Norfolk, Copsey had a troubled upbringing, said Mr Wilson, and was supervised by social services.
When he turned 18, he had a leading care team and is supported until he is 25.

"He came to Nottingham for a change of scenery, to try and deal with his mental health, and he felt trapped where he was from and came to Nottingham." "He was working well in Nottingham as a chef.
It was not great pay but he was happy, but rather lonely".
Copsey, 21, of Sherbrooke Road, Carrington, looked at still indecent images and videos of children.
Judge Nirmal Shant, King's Counsel, told him in the dock at Nottingham Crown Court: "Your position is aggravated by the fact when you were 13, in 2013, you were convicted of rape of a boy under the age of 13.
"When you pleaded guilty, the matter was the subject of a referral order.
That, of course is a serious matter." He has since spent time on remand in custody and awaiting sentencing.
For the possessing indecent images offences, she gave him a three-year community order, with an accredited group work sex offender programme and 55 rehabilitation activity days.
He will have to stay on the sex offenders' register and a sexual harm prevention order for five years.
