Jose Martin Holden, aged 32 and residing on George Street, appeared before Worcester Crown Court last week (Friday, August 1) to receive his sentence.

He was convicted of two counts of rape, as well as charges of assault by penetration and sexual assault after a trial held from June 9 to June 13.

During sentencing, His Honour Judge Jackson classified Holden as a dangerous offender and rejected the defense’s argument regarding his learning difficulties as a mitigating factor.

The judge also commented on Holden’s language about women during his arrest, describing it as "dehumanising." The court was told: "You lack insight into your actions...

There is a substantial risk of you harming other women in the future." Holden received a 20-year prison sentence for the first count of rape, with an additional five years on license thereafter.

He was also sentenced to eight years for assault by penetration, two years for sexual assault, and 10 years for the second count of rape.

All sentences are to run concurrently, effectively meaning his maximum term will be 20 years in prison.
