JORDAN HILL FROM PAIGNTON SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS IN DEVON AND TORBAY

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Paignton and the surrounding areas, Jordan Hill, a 21-year-old man from Ramshill Road, Paignton, has been sentenced to six years in prison for a series of serious sexual offences committed against vulnerable young girls. The crimes, which took place between April 2013 and December 2014, involved a total of seven victims and included a range of disturbing acts that have left a lasting impact on those affected.

Hill pleaded guilty to 13 separate charges related to his interactions with these young girls. His offences encompassed engaging in sexual activity with a child, encouraging a child to participate in sexual acts, and meeting with a girl after grooming her online. Additionally, he was convicted of inciting the production of indecent images of children, highlighting the extent of his predatory behavior. The court, presided over by a judge at Exeter Crown Court, handed down a six-year prison sentence on Friday, a decision that has been welcomed by law enforcement authorities.

Detective Sergeant Kim Power, who serves as the Deputy Senior Investigating Officer within the Public Protection Unit, provided insight into the case, emphasizing Hill’s manipulative tactics and the extent of his online activities. She stated, “Hill committed crimes against vulnerable young girls for his own gratification. He was prolific in his contact with young girls via social media, where he befriended them online on a daily basis and ultimately went on to commit offences against them. There was evidence of premeditation of grooming girls online and then arranging to meet with them.”

From the outset of the investigation, police officers collaborated closely with Devon County Council, Torbay Council, and other partner agencies, including local schools, health professionals, and the Crown Prosecution Service. This coordinated effort was crucial in gathering evidence and ensuring Hill’s apprehension. Detective Sergeant Power highlighted the dedication of these agencies, saying, “All of the partner agencies responded quickly when the allegations came to light and worked together tirelessly to ensure Hill was brought to justice.”

She further condemned Hill’s actions, describing him as a “selfish and manipulative individual who had a total disregard for the welfare of his victims,” many of whom are now coping with the trauma inflicted upon them. The police officer expressed hope that the lengthy sentence would serve as a deterrent and provide some measure of justice and closure for the victims and their families. “We welcome today’s sentence. This reflects the serious nature of these offences and we hope that it goes at least some way to helping victims and their families deal with the crimes committed against them,” she said.

Detective Sergeant Power also acknowledged the emotional toll on those involved, noting, “While we have supported the victims and their families, this has been an emotional and difficult time for all affected by Hill’s actions, and the victims have shown immense courage throughout this investigation.” She added that the police hope the victims can find some comfort in knowing that their bravery in reporting the crimes helped prevent Hill from harming others. “I hope they can take some comfort in the fact that by making the reports to the police, we were able to ensure that Hill could not commit further crimes and we were able to safeguard other children that may have been at risk of harm.”

Local authorities, including Torbay Council’s Executive Lead for Adults and Children, Councillor Julien Parrott, also commented on the case. He stated, “Through successful partnership working we have been able to bring this person to justice. This demonstrates our determination that this type of crime will not be tolerated in Torbay. For the young victims to speak up about what was happening has shown great courage, and we will continue to support them and their families in any way that we can.”

In light of this case, authorities have issued a warning about the dangers of social media, which Hill exploited to contact and groom his victims. They urge parents, children, and young people to stay vigilant and to visit the Virtually Safe website (www.torbayvirtuallysafe.co.uk) for advice on staying safe online. Police are also encouraging other victims of Hill or similar crimes to come forward. Anyone with information or who has been affected is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Kim Power by calling 101, where appropriate support services will be available. The police reaffirm their commitment to protecting children and ensuring that offenders like Jordan Hill are held accountable for their actions.
