JONATHAN LEGRYS FROM NORTHAMPTON SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a case that has shocked the Northampton community, Jonathan Legrys, a 46-year-old man from Northampton, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The conviction was delivered by Northampton Crown Court following a jury trial that lasted over ten hours, during which the jury carefully considered the evidence presented.
Legrys faced multiple charges, including rape, exposure, and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
Throughout the trial, he maintained his innocence, denying all allegations and asserting that the abuse never took place.
Despite his claims, the jury found him guilty by majority verdicts, leading to his immediate sentencing.
During the sentencing hearing, Recorder Adrian Redgrave QC emphasized the gravity of Legrys's actions, highlighting that he exploited the vulnerability of a young girl during a particularly difficult period in her life.
The court heard how Legrys used alcohol and false promises of mobile phone credits to lure the girl into performing sexual acts, a tactic that underscores the predatory nature of his conduct.
The victim’s parents, who requested anonymity to protect their daughter’s identity, expressed their relief and satisfaction that justice had been served.
They stated, “We’re overwhelmed and just pleased his lies have finally caught up with him.” Their words reflect the relief and sense of justice that many in the community feel after this disturbing case was brought to a close.
Following his conviction, Legrys was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to protect the public from any future offenses.
His case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need to safeguard vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
