The team’s investigation revealed that Oakland had been engaging in disturbing online conduct, which included possessing and sharing indecent images of children.
Oakland appeared before Nottingham Crown Court to face multiple serious charges.
He admitted to possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child, as well as showing or distributing such material.
Additionally, he confessed to attempting to initiate sexual communication with a minor, a crime that underscores the severity of his actions.
The court also found that Oakland was in possession of a controlled drug classified as Class B, adding to the list of his offenses.
During the confrontation with the paedophile hunting team, Oakland reportedly expressed a sense of resignation, stating, “I was waiting for this day to come as I knew what I was doing was wrong but I couldn’t help it as I was bored.” His words reflected a recognition of guilt, yet also hinted at underlying issues that may have contributed to his behavior.
Following the hearing, Oakland was sentenced to six months in prison.
The court also mandated that he register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
