KILWINNING MAN, 35, THREATENS EX AND BREACHES BAIL, COURT HEARS
A man named John McKellar, aged 35, has been involved in multiple criminal activities including threatening and abusing his ex-partner.He repeatedly shouted and swore at his former partner in Kilwinning on December 28, 2022, before taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, which was without a license and insurance.
On the same day, at his residence, he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner towards police officers by shouting, swearing, threatening violence, and struggling violently with four officers to resist arrest.
Additionally, on May 16 of the previous year, McKellar returned to his ex-partner's address, where he exhibited aggressive behavior, threatened her with violence, made threats to kill her children, threatened to set her home on fire, indicated property damage, threatened to take her dog away, and caused damage to her bike.
McKellar also breached a bail order that forbade him from contacting his ex-partner or entering her home.
During the court proceedings, he pleaded guilty to these offenses.
The sheriff deferred sentencing pending a social work report, and while McKellar expressed reluctance to comply with community orders and suggested he might serve community-based sentences if necessary, the sheriff ultimately deferred the sentence further, indicating the possibility of imprisonment if McKellar does not show genuine remorse and willingness to change.
