DARLINGTON THUG JAILED FOR BRUTAL PARTNER ATTACK WITH PERFUME BOTTLE
A violent individual, John Jackson, from Darlington, was involved in a brutal assault on his partner, which occurred on an Amsterdam ferry.During the incident in April, Jackson launched an attack on the woman after she fell asleep following a heated argument about his drinking.
He struck her over the head with a perfume bottle shaped like a stiletto and grabbed her by the throat.
The woman was left covered in blood and had to use a shower to stem the bleeding.
Prosecutors detailed that Jackson drank copious amounts of alcohol during the trip.
Additionally, in July, Jackson assaulted her multiple times while driving back from Sunderland, hitting her approximately 20-30 times and becoming verbally abusive with threats to kill her, her children, and to set her house on fire.
Jackson admitted to multiple charges including intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and making threats to kill.
The court sentenced him to three years in prison and imposed a ten-year restraining order to protect his victim.
His mitigating factor included acknowledgment of his wrongdoing and a recognition that his offending caused significant harm to his partner.
