BRISTOL MAN JOHN HARRASIN INVOLVED IN SEXUAL OFFENSES WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a case that has shocked the community of Bristol, a 21-year-old man named John Harrasin has admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl over a span of two days. The incident took place in a one-bedroom flat that Harrasin shared with three other adults, raising serious concerns about the safety and supervision within the shared living environment.
According to court proceedings, Harrasin-Worgan’s actions and attitude towards the law were notably dismissive.
During an interview with a probation officer, Jane Middleton, he expressed a dismissive view of the age of consent laws, describing them as "ridiculous." This statement was made in the context of his admission that he had sex with the underage girl.
The court heard that Harrasin-Worgan had a history of inappropriate attitudes, as he reportedly told the probation officer that he believed 14-year-old girls often engaged in sexual activity, indicating a troubling lack of regard for legal boundaries and age-appropriate relationships.
Further details revealed that Harrasin-Worgan, who is a father of two, was living in a flat supported by a housing charity.
Witnesses and flatmates provided additional insights into the situation, with one of his friends, Matt Smith, recounting that he had seen Harrasin and the girl sleeping together on a mattress in the lounge area of the flat.
The flatmate also expressed concern after discovering used condoms, which suggested sexual activity had taken place.
When questioned by authorities following his arrest, Harrasin-Worgan initially denied having any sexual contact with the girl, claiming she was merely a friend.
He insisted that he had a two-year-old daughter and would never engage in such behavior.
Despite his denials, the evidence and statements presented in court pointed to a clear violation of the law.
The prosecution, led by Mary Cowe, outlined the charges against Harrasin-Worgan, which included three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and inciting or causing a child to participate in sexual acts.
The seriousness of the allegations prompted the judge, Michael Longman, to adjourn the case for four weeks to allow for a comprehensive assessment of Harrasin-Worgan’s mental state and background.
Meanwhile, the defendant was remanded in custody, pending further legal proceedings.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns about safeguarding minors and the importance of strict enforcement of laws designed to protect vulnerable young individuals from exploitation and abuse.
The community of Bristol awaits the next steps in this troubling legal process.
