SUFFOLK MAN JAILED FOR MURDER AND KNIFE ATTACK
John Grimwood, 29 years old, was found guilty of murdering his partner Alison Studd and of attacking another woman, Carrie Talbot, with a craft knife. The court was informed that Grimwood had previously been acquitted of the murder of Rose Hunt.
Nonetheless, in January 2010, he fatally stabbed Alison Studd following a dispute and assaulted Carrie Talbot on the same day, causing severe lacerations that left her with lasting scars.
Eyewitnesses described Grimwood as appearing 'stoned and highly intoxicated' during the assaults.
The judge imposed a sentence of at least 20 years imprisonment, citing Grimwood’s prior violent tendencies, possession of weapons, substance misuse, and a lengthy criminal record comprising 69 offenses.
During earlier hearings, Grimwood admitted to the murder of Miss Studd and the intentional wounding of Carrie Talbot.
The court highlighted his recurring issues with alcohol and drugs, his frequent use of weapons, and past reports from Miss Studd about domestic violence.
