JOHN FOURACRES FROM WOOLAVINGTON JAILED FOR GLASTONBURY RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE CASES
In a case that has shocked the local community and drawn widespread condemnation, John Fouracres, a 27-year-old man from Woolavington, was convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed in the Glastonbury area. The crimes, which spanned over seven years, involved the abuse of a young girl who was under the age of 13 at the time of the assaults.According to court records, Fouracres was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault and two counts of rape, all occurring between 2005 and 2012. The lengthy trial at Taunton Crown Court lasted six days, during which the jury carefully examined the evidence presented. The verdict was delivered yesterday, with the court sentencing Fouracres to a term of 11 years in prison for his disturbing actions.
Detective Constable Darren Lipscomb, who led the investigation, expressed his outrage at the severity of the crimes. He stated, “The victim first contacted police about the abuse she suffered in summer 2013 after finally being able to speak about the offences to those close to her. She’s been extremely courageous in being able to describe what happened to her and she provided compelling evidence which helped to secure justice in this case.”
He further emphasized the lasting impact of Fouracres’ actions, describing the offenses as “disgusting” and highlighting the long-term trauma inflicted upon the young victim. Detective Lipscomb also issued a message of support to other victims of sexual abuse, encouraging them to come forward and seek help, regardless of how much time has passed since the offenses occurred. The case has served as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and the relentless pursuit of justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
