Somerset man jailed for 'horrendous' sexual assaults on children

SOMERSET MAN JAILED FOR 'HORRENDOUS' SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON CHILDREN

Nigel Frith, a 56-year-old man from Woolavington in Somerset, was sentenced to 34 months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault over an 11-year period.

He admitted to sexually assaulting six individuals, including four children and two adults, engaging in acts such as touching, kissing, and making sexual suggestions.

The court heard that Frith's offending spanned from 2012 to 2023, with his victims ranging from as young as 10 years old to adults in their 20s and 30s.

During the sentencing at Taunton Crown Court, Frith was also issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, a restraining order, and was added to the sex offenders' register.

Victims described feeling overwhelmed, confused, angry, and violated by his actions, with one noting the impact of the crimes on their lives, including feelings of discomfort and violation upon seeing him.

The investigating officer, Det Con Martyn Jackson, described Frith's behavior as disgraceful and emphasized the importance of the victims' strength in coming forward.

The judge described his crimes as 'horrendous,' denoting the pattern of thought and impact on his victims, who were left feeling degraded and terrified in a safe space meant for them.

This case underscores the severity and harmful nature of his offenses, leading to a substantial prison sentence and significant court orders to protect others in the future.
