JOHN ANGELI SENTENCED FOR LIFE IN LONDON CHILD GROOMING AND RAPE CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, John Angeli, a 60-year-old man from Steeplestone Close, London, has been convicted of heinous crimes involving the grooming and sexual assault of a young girl. The incident, which took place over several months, involved Angeli systematically manipulating the victim, a girl from Bedfordshire, by providing her with art supplies, money, sweets, and drinks, all in an effort to establish a false sense of intimacy and trust.

Following a detailed trial at Luton Crown Court, Angeli was found guilty on multiple counts, including 12 charges such as rape, assault by penetration, and sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13. In addition to these convictions, he admitted to four counts of rape, voyeurism, and possession of indecent images of a child, further highlighting the extent of his criminal behavior.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Angeli had coerced the young girl into believing they were in a genuine relationship. He used various means to manipulate her, including giving her money, sweets, and drinks over a period of months, which served to entrap her emotionally and psychologically. The court heard how, after establishing this false relationship, Angeli proceeded to commit acts of sexual violence against her, sometimes recording the abuse on camera.

Judge Allison Hunter addressed Angeli directly during sentencing, stating, “You set about grooming her from the outset so that she believed she was having a loving relationship that you persuaded her was completely appropriate for her age.” The judge emphasized the severity of the crimes and the betrayal of trust involved.

As a result of his convictions, Angeli was sentenced to life imprisonment. The court also determined that he must serve a minimum term of 14 years before being eligible for parole, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the need for justice for the young victim.
