SALIH MAHMOUDI SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN TOXTETH AND LONDON ROAD INCIDENT
Salih Mahmoudi, a 42-year-old man, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison following his conviction for a serious sexual assault that took place in Toxteth, Liverpool, in 2023.The case garnered significant attention as it involved a brutal attack on a woman in her 30s, which occurred during the early hours of a summer morning.
Mahmoudi appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, March 7, where he admitted to charges of rape and a section 47 assault.
The court proceedings revealed the disturbing details of the incident, which unfolded on Monday, August 21, 2023, at approximately 3:30 AM.
According to reports, Mahmoudi was observed by witnesses as he approached the woman on London Road, a busy thoroughfare in the city.
After initially engaging with her, the pair moved together across the city to Falkner Street, passing near Crown Street and Oxford Street.
It was at an abandoned structure in the vicinity that Mahmoudi committed the assault and rape.
The attack left the victim traumatized, and her ordeal was eventually brought to light through a lengthy and meticulous investigation conducted by local authorities.
The investigation was described as complex, reflecting the challenges faced by law enforcement in gathering evidence and building a case against the offender.
In addition to his prison sentence, Mahmoudi has been subjected to a 15-year Restraining Order, which prohibits him from contacting or approaching the victim.
Furthermore, he has been placed on an indefinite register as a Sex Offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community.
Detective Constable Laura James, who led the investigation, expressed her outrage at the attack.
She stated, “To target a woman who was on her own and subject her to such a violent attack is truly shocking.
This has been an extremely lengthy and complex investigation and while no sentence will repair the damage Salih Mahmoudi inflicted on this woman, I hope this conviction provides her with some comfort.”
