JEFFREY SENIOR'S RE-IMPRISONMENT IN LEEDS FOR BREACHING SEX OFFENCES ORDER
In April 2019, Jeffrey Senior, a convicted sex offender residing in Leeds, was once again brought into custody after violating the strict conditions of his sexual offences prevention order (SOPO).Senior's latest breach involved allowing two minors, both aged 14, to stay overnight at his residence in Lawnswood, Leeds, an act that directly contravened the court-mandated restrictions designed to protect children from potential harm.
The incident came to light when West Yorkshire Police initiated a missing person investigation after the parents of a 14-year-old girl reported her as missing.
The girl was eventually located in the early hours of the morning, found asleep on a sofa alongside her 14-year-old boyfriend at Senior's flat.
During the police inquiry, it was revealed that the teenage boy had also been smoking cannabis at the property, raising further concerns about the environment Senior was providing.
The court heard that Senior was subject to a SOPO issued on March 22 of that year, which explicitly forbade him from having unsupervised contact with children under 16 and from inviting or allowing children into his home.
Senior, aged 53, had previously served a three-year prison sentence in 2013 after being convicted of multiple serious offences, including false imprisonment, two counts of sexual activity with a child, and three counts of sexual assault.
His current breach of the order was considered a serious violation of the court's protective measures.
Prosecutor Phillip Adams explained that police were directed to Senior’s flat after the girl’s parents reported her missing.
Officers initially visited the home of her teenage boyfriend but were then guided to Senior’s residence.
A woman answered the door and permitted the officers to enter, where they discovered the two teenagers asleep under a duvet on the sofa.
Senior was found in bed at the time and, upon waking, acknowledged to officers that he was under a SOPO.
During questioning, Senior admitted that the boy had been allowed into his flat approximately 20 times previously and that the teenager had smoked cigarettes there.
He explained that the boy had arrived with the girl after she had a falling out with her mother.
Senior stated he had left the teenagers in the living room before going to bed and confirmed that he had seen the boy pick up and smoke a cannabis joint from an ashtray.
Senior, of Iveson Drive, Lawnswood, pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of his sexual offences prevention order.
As a result, he was sentenced to an additional 18 months in prison, underscoring the court’s stance on violations of protective orders meant to safeguard minors from potential exploitation and harm.
