JAVID SADIQ BRADFORD SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED AFTER PREDATORY BEHAVIOR ON TEENAGE GIRL
In September 2012, a disturbing case emerged involving Javid Sadiq, a 27-year-old man from Bradford, who was convicted of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl. The case highlighted a series of troubling actions that spanned several months and involved a blatant disregard for police warnings and the safety of the young victim.
According to court records, Sadiq, residing on Melba Road in Bradford, had initiated a relationship with the underage girl that began around September 7, 2010.
Despite receiving a formal warning letter from police instructing him to cease all contact with her, Sadiq continued to pursue the relationship.
The court heard that he purchased her adult underwear, including thongs and a fancy bra, which he gave to her as gifts.
The young girl later confided to victim support workers that Sadiq had made her pregnant, leading to a miscarriage, a tragic consequence of his predatory behavior.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Sadiq pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child, covering the period from September 7, 2010, to January 20, 2011.
His actions did not stop there; he was also convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to threaten violence, a separate offense committed on August 22 of the previous year.
For the sexual offenses, Sadiq was sentenced to three years in prison, while the firearm-related charge added an additional two years to his incarceration.
Prosecutor Duncan Ritchie detailed that the relationship between Sadiq and the girl began when she was just 13, and Sadiq was 25.
Despite the police warning, the relationship persisted into the following month, with the girl staying overnight at Sadiq’s residence on weekends.
Evidence presented in court indicated that Sadiq provided her with mobile phone credit, food, and adult underwear, and she would change into her school uniform after sleeping at his home.
The girl’s mother became suspicious after discovering the lingerie and a fancy bra, which led to Sadiq’s arrest.
Following his detention, the sexual relationship was terminated.
Further distressing details emerged when, on January 8 of the following year, the girl was reported missing by her mother.
She returned home in a disheveled and distressed state, revealing that Sadiq had accused her of ruining his life.
She recounted an incident in Shipley where Sadiq attempted to hang himself with a washing line.
She described supporting his legs to prevent him from dying, an act that underscored the severity of his mental state at the time.
The girl, now 15, was noted to be in need of counseling to address the trauma she endured.
The firearm offense was linked to an incident involving Bingley and Ilkley, where Sadiq threatened gamekeeper Michael Smith with an air rifle after being caught poaching.
This act of intimidation further demonstrated his pattern of reckless and dangerous behavior.
During mitigation, Sadiq’s defense lawyer, Rodney Ferm, argued that his client was not a sexual predator and believed the girl was 18 when their relationship began.
He claimed that Sadiq had fallen in love with her and only learned her true age later.
However, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC was unequivocal in his judgment, stating, “You knew, and must have known, this was deviant, anti-social and inappropriate behaviour,” emphasizing the gravity of Sadiq’s actions and the breach of trust involved.
