JASON BRIAN FROM BLACKBURN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Blackburn community, Jason Brian, a 41-year-old man from Blackburn, has been sentenced to prison after attempting to engage in sexual activities with what he believed were underage girls.The incident unfolded in May 2022, when Brian sent a pornographic image to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
Unbeknownst to him, the recipient was actually an undercover police officer operating online to catch predators.
Following this initial contact, Brian continued his communication by moving the conversation to Snapchat, where he explicitly stated his intention to perform a sexual act.
The investigation revealed that at the time, Brian was residing on Rutland Street in Blackburn.
Authorities quickly identified him as the individual responsible for the messages and took him into custody.
During police interviews, Brian chose to answer questions with silence, answering 'no comment' to all inquiries, and was subsequently released on bail as investigations persisted.
On July 22, 2022, Brian made another attempt to contact the same individual, again believing her to be a 13-year-old girl.
He sent a message asking if she wanted to engage in phone sex.
Once more, the recipient was an undercover officer.
When the conversation was suggested to be moved to a different social media platform, Brian refused and instead made three phone calls to what he thought was the girl’s number, all in an effort to have phone sex.
He also sent messages encouraging her to perform sexual acts.
Following these actions, police arrested Brian and seized his mobile phone.
A detailed examination of his device uncovered a disturbing collection of 391 indecent images of children, including 51 that were classified as the most severe forms of child abuse.
During police interviews, Brian admitted that he had downloaded these images from social media sites and that he viewed them for sexual gratification.
He also confessed to searching the internet specifically for indecent images of children for sexual purposes.
Brian faced multiple charges, including attempting to cause a child to view sexual images, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor, attempting to induce a girl aged 13 or over to participate in sexual activity, and possession of indecent images of children.
Last week, at Preston Crown Court, he was sentenced to 28 months in prison.
In addition to his imprisonment, Brian was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his access to the internet, and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm.
