JANIS SENJONOVS FROM IPSWICH JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON SCHOOLGIRL IN IPSWICH
In a recent case heard at Ipswich Crown Court, Janis Senjonovs, a man with no fixed address residing in Ipswich, was sentenced to four months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl. The incident took place in September, and the court was informed that the victim was a 12-year-old girl who was asleep on a sofa at the time of the assault.
According to the prosecution, led by Michael Crimp, the defendant was under the influence of drugs during the incident.
The court heard that Senjonovs had inappropriately touched the girl over her clothing, an act that was witnessed by her mother.
The mother saw Senjonovs touching her daughter and immediately alerted authorities.
Senjonovs, who admitted to the charges, was identified as having no fixed residence but was known to have been living in Ipswich at the time of the offence.
His admission of guilt was taken into account during sentencing, which also included several additional restrictions and orders.
In addition to his jail term, Senjonovs was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of seven years.
Furthermore, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order that would remain in effect for the same duration.
An indefinite restraining order was also issued, explicitly prohibiting him from making any contact with the victim or her family members.
Judge Rupert Overbury, who presided over the case, highlighted that Senjonovs had no prior convictions, which was considered during sentencing.
The judge also noted that the defendant had expressed remorse for his actions.
Since Senjonovs had been in custody since his arrest in September, the court decided that he would be released almost immediately, effectively serving the sentence he had already undergone.
This case underscores the serious legal consequences of sexual misconduct, especially involving minors, and demonstrates the judicial system’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals in the Ipswich community.
